Virya Energy Expands into Japan’s Renewable Market through Integration of BayWa r.e.’s Japan Solar Platform

Our group Virya Energy

Virya Energy Group is a global renewable energy platform operating in more than 15 countries across Europe and Asia, with a team of over 700 employees worldwide.

Virya Energy’s portfolio includes strategic investments across wind and solar energy, sustainable hydrogen development, energy distribution, and specialized energy industry services. Virya Energy has built extensive expertise in renewable energy development, including more than 600 MW of installed renewable energy production capacity globally.

Our vision
To advance Japan’s transition to clean energy by becoming the country’s most trusted independent renewable power platform, built on responsible governance, scalable infrastructure, and long‑term partnerships.
Our mission
To develop, own, and operate high‑quality renewable energy assets across Japan with strong governance and dedicated local leadership. We are committed to delivering reliable, long‑term corporate power purchase agreements and expanding our portfolio to 200 megawatts of large‑scale wind and solar projects by 2030, strengthening investor confidence and accelerating Japan’s clean energy future.

Our focus in Japan

Virya Energy’s priority is to build an independent platform in Japan that operates with strong governance and dedicated leadership. The structure is designed for long-term scalability and investor confidence. In addition to this strategic move, Virya Energy and its affiliate, Constant Energy in Asia, bring an established track record in the region, having already executed multiple long-term corporate PPAs with leading Japanese corporations.

Our affiliate in Asia, Constant Energy, which focuses on Commercial and Industrial (C&I) projects in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, while also expanding its portfolio of large‑scale renewable grid‑solution power‑generation assets. Constant Energy currently has over 260 MW operational capacity across Asia.

Corporate Power Purchase Agreement

As an Independent Power Producer (IPP), we trade electricity generated from our renewable energy plants in the electricity market—including wholesale power transactions, supply‑demand balancing markets, and capacity markets. Through a Corporate PPA, companies procure renewable energy and its associated environmental value directly from the generator at a fixed price over the long term. This contributes to climate‑change mitigation and supports the achievement of corporate decarbonization targets.
